It is less than 1 month to go until ‘Tour Ireland’ kicks off, this years event will start and finish in North Wales but will take in around 24 hours in Ireland by using the high-speed ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. Following documentation and scrutineering in Llandudno on Tuesday 12 May, the tour will start early on Wednesday 13 May and finish back in North Wales on Friday 15 May. The Irish leg includes spectacular closed road special stages in the Wicklow Mountains as well as a race at Mondello Park.

For the first time in the history of Tour Britannia, the action from this year’s event will be filmed for an hour-long programme on Motors TV. Tour Ireland, the Irish edition of Tour Britannia (13-15 May), will be screened with the support of Vision Techniques and CBT (Cambridge Business Travel).

Tour Ireland 12-15 May 2015 – Proposed schedule.

Tuesday 12 May

Scrutineering will be in the Victoria Car Park in Llandudno and Rally HQ at the St George’s Hotel. There will be an option to leave cars in the car park and there will be a baggage van for those competitors without support crews.

Wednesday 13 May

The event starts early on Wednesday morning with two stages at the Great Orme for competition and one run for regularity. After that, it is straight to Holyhead for the Irish Ferries crossing to Dublin, with last check in at 11.50. Lunch will be on the boat.

From Dublin port, crews head straight to the Wicklow Mountains for four or five closed-road special stages before the overnight stay at the Powerscourt Hotel in Enniskerry. The regularity crews will have at least one other road regularity section.

Thursday 14 May

First destination on Thursday morning is the race track at Mondello Park for a race (maybe even two) and circuit laps for the regularity crews. The regularity crews may also have another road section or two, including a look at a venue with some real motor sport history.

Then it’s off back to the ferry for the return crossing to Holyhead followed by a short hop to Anglesey circuit (less than 15 minutes) for a race on the national circuit at this superb track. We can’t think of any other event that involves racing in two countries on the same day!

After the race, it’s a gentle cruise back to Llandudno for the overnight halt back at the St George’s Hotel.

Friday 15 May

Friday is another full day taking in some of the North Wales venues that proved so popular last summer. The schedule is set to include Glan- y-Gors, Llanbedr, Nant Gwytheyrn and a finale back at Anglesey circuit for another race. We should be back in Llandudno by 6pm to finish on the promenade before the prize-giving
