Inaugural Bonhams MPH action at Bicester Heritage a success

Bicester Heritage played host to the inaugural auction for Bonhams MPH on September 26th, the newly established specialist auction house based at Bicester Heritage in Oxfordshire.

The Grade II listed events venue, Hangar 113, proved to be an ideal environment from which to hold an auction. With an indoor area of more than 52,000 square feet, the vast arena greeted buyers with an astonishing view and, with the space to hold a drive-through sale, provided an engaging and efficient format.

Impressive footfall in the hangar alongside strong telephone and online bidder presence contributed to total sales results that exceeded £2.68 million (including buyer’s premium) with an overall sale rate of 83% for 262 lots that included a cherished 1993 Ford Escort RS Cosworth and a 1939 Ford V8 Convertible. Full results can be found here

Dan Geoghegan, Chief Executive of Bicester Heritage, said: “Bonhams MPH has certainly hit the ground running with a strong result and vibrant spectacle. The permanent team here at Bicester Heritage have clearly made the most of the location and we are looking forward to the next auction on 26th November.”

Rob Hubbard, Director, Head of Department for Bonhams MPH, added: “Bonhams MPH has worked hard to provide a new, easy-to-understand consignment process that is complemented by an appraisal system that gives confidence to the buyers. These, combined with the drive-through sales format that the space in the hangar allows, is a great platform from which to sell motor vehicles.

Their next sale is on November 26th and consignments can be registered here: https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25825/
