Gold Cup Meeting to host 21 Races

The Historic Sports Car Club has confirmed a 21-race schedule for the Oulton Park Gold Cup (29-31 August), covering 12 of the Club’s portfolio of categories.

The Gold Cup is always one of the best supported and most popular historic racing festivals of the season and that is likely to be even more so this summer after such an interrupted racing season.

Each of the HSCC race categories will have either a double-header or a longer race to ensure good track time for all competitors. Given the logistical and administrative changes required to run such a large event under current COVID-19 guidelines, all competitors are being urged to enter as soon as possible to help pre-event planning. No entry fees will be taken until the closing date for entries and the HSCC will give full refunds for any entries withdrawn up to the event.

The full list of races is as follows:

  • Historic Road Sports: qualifying on Saturday, 30-minute race on Sunday
  • 70s Road Sports: qualifying on Saturday, 30-minute race on Sunday
  • Historic Touring Cars: qualifying and two races on Monday
  • Guards Trophy: qualifying Saturday, 40-minute race on Sunday
  • Thundersports: qualifying on Saturday, race one on Sunday and race two on Monday

  • Historic Formula Junior: qualifying on Saturday, two races on Sunday
  • Dunlop Historic Trophy for Pre ’66 Jaguars: qualifying and 60-minute race on Monday

In addition, there will be a race for the Heritage Formula Ford Championship with qualifying and the race on Monday. In total, five Formula Ford races will cater for cars from the start of the category in 1967 right through until 1992.

The Dunlop Historic Trophy for Pre ’66 Jaguars will be a special one-hour race, with mandatory pit stops and the option of two drivers. Along with a 30-minute qualifying session, the event will offer Jaguar racers an hour and a half of track time for a very competitive entry fee in line with regular HSCC fees.

On-line entries for the annual Oulton Park Gold Cup can be made via the HSCC website at: hscc.org.uk
