What’s in store at the London Classic Car Show?

The London Classic Car Show kicks off today at 16.30 from London’s Excel. We take a look at what is in store for 2019:

Highlight exhibits include a tribute to the Italian Job with all the favourite iconic classics on show, Citroen celebrate their centenary with a selection of their 300 models produced over time.

Ian Callum, Jaguar’s Director of Design is all set to open an exhibit of his work and receive The London Classic Car Show Icon Award on Friday at noon. This showcase will include some of his career-defining cars that he has designed including the Aston Martin Vanquish; DB7; DB9; Jaguar I-PACE; F-TYPE and XK and the Ford RS200 rally car.

More highlights include a collection of historical Aero Engine cars selected and presented by engineer and inventor Edd China these include:

  • 27-litre V12 Thomas Special, ‘Babs’. This historical car was bought in 1925 by innovative engineer and successful racing driver John Parry-Thomas, who broke the world land speed record in Babs in 1926 at 171.09mph.
  • 27-litre Hispano Suiza V12, known as ‘Sid’ for its characterful hissing after a fast run.
  • 1921 V8 GN Curtiss, the classic GN racing special designed by Ron Godfrey and Archie Frazer Nash.
  • 1926 GN Parker, which produces a whopping 170bhp, now successfully raced and taken on continental tours by Justin Maeers.

The Supagard Theatre is back, sadly it won’t be the same without our dearly missed Henry Hope-Frost but it will be providing a platform for the presentation of the Icon Award, talks from Ed China, a classic car investment forum, and daily Q&A’s with TV personality Quentin Wilson.

If you are Jaguar or an Aston Martin fan you are in for a treat, Evolution E-Types is all set to unveil their brand new all aluminium bodied E-Type Roadster. The new Roadster is the first of its kind to come out of the Evolution workshop and will be showcased alongside their E Type Fixed head Coupe and a bare metal Low Drag Roadster body.  Definitely worth a visit.

On the Aston Martin Owners Club stand you will get a chance to see a Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake – one of just 99 being built – alongside a DB6 Mk2 Volante, V12 Vanquish S and from the heritage: a 1974 AMV8 Saloon (£129,950) and a 1978 AMV8 Volante (£225,000).

The London Classic Car Shows opens at 16.30 GMT on Thursday 14 February and runs until the evening of Sunday 17 February.
