If you are looking for an opportunity to get your classic cars or bikes out for a blast, how about a quick sprint? David and Lucy Leigh are running a demonstration sprint at Curborough Sprint Course on Monday 31st August 2020, to raise money for the charity, Staffordshire Clubs for Young People.
As a demonstration event, it will not be timed, but will nonetheless provide a great opportunity to have some fun on the figure-of-eight track. There is capacity for up to 100 cars and motorcycles (eligibility 1900 to 1980). Each entrant will have four runs and passengers are permitted, as long as they are from the same household or social bubble. The entry fee is a mere £50 for cars and £25 for motorcycles, one passenger included, and all proceeds go to charity.
Entries are already building in fact with the following bikes already signed up; Brough Superior MK1 SV Sports, Panther Mod 30 Special, Norton International 500, BSA M 21, Triumph Speed Twin, Ariel KH Fieldmaster, Skyteam Ace 125 and a Triumph Trident T 150 V. – What more excuses do you need?
Basil Davenport and Spider set the first vintage record at Curborough in 1964. Spider will be back on the 31st August, in full song after a complete rebuild.

This year’s Charity Sprint will be run as a closed event due to COVID-19 but live action will be streamed online throughout the day, including some aerial footage. Government guidelines in respect of social distancing will be adhered to for everyone’s safety and peace of mind and although you may prefer to bring a picnic, the café will be open and the Wriggly Monkey Brewery will be running a bar.
NB: The closing date for entries is 21st August, so there is still time to enter online and come and join the fun!
