VSCC Spring Start & Benjafield’s 100 Le Mans Start

History was made last weekend (April 13) at the VSCC Spring start now named ‘Formula Vintage’ event where a record field of 33 Bentleys assembled to celebrate their centenary race which was preceded by a Bentley Le Mans Start.

In addition there was a superb gathering of 8 ERA’s, a display of Bentley’s, a car park full of Pre-war cars, an auto jumble, a buzzing paddock filled with an array of fabulous vintage cars and a public grid walk which included HRH Prince Michael of Kent admiring the 40 Bentley’s lined up prior to the Le Mans Start.

Congratulations go to Richard Hudson and Stuart Morley for winning the Bentley race in Richard’s 3 4 1/2 Litre Bentley, winning a clear 1.26 seconds ahead of Ewen Getley and Richard Tuluie in another Bentley 3 Litre. The Bentley 3/4 1/2 litre of James Morley finished on the third step of the podium.

Barry Cannell topped the HGPCA race in his Brabham BT11A, 8 secs clear of Peter Horsman in his Lotus 18/21. Winner of the Silverstone Trophy went to Patrick Blakeney-Edwards for winning the Trophy race in a 1930 Frazer Nash SuperSports.
