HERO-ERA launch Rally for the Ages, for the young, for free*

HERO-ERA Competition Director Guy Woodcock today announced the youth-focused ‘Rally for the Ages’, for the young, for free,* which is designed to encourage younger people into historic rallying as an extension of HERO-ERA’s youth policy. The one-day rally will run from Bicester Heritage June 3.

In line with HERO-ERA’s policy of encouraging the young and the newbies into the sport, a compact one-day starter event will reward younger teams with a free entry! Crews with a combined age of less than 70 years at the time of the rally will be eligible to a full refund of the entry fee provided they start the event.

As HERO-ERA are a totally carbon neutral company through their NET-HERO carbon offset programme, it is encouraging that Coryton Bio Fuel specialists will supply their ‘Sustain-Classic’ fuel to each competitor on the event. ‘Sustain’ from Coryton balances innovation and the environment to produce the world’s leading sustainable fuel technologies.

The rally will be based at the epicentre of Historic Motoring, Bicester Heritage. Registration and scrutineering are from 8.00 am on June 3rd, then a driver’s briefing and a tutorial for newcomers and anyone who needs a refresher.

A great afternoon of classic car rallying follows around the Bicester area, starting and finishing at the HERO-ERA headquarters on Bicester Heritage. First off is a test at the on-site Test Track before heading out to find the best roads that Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire can offer.

With four regularities on these fantastic roads, crews will need to be on their toes to win the inaugural Rally for the Ages, with one more run on the onsite Test Track to round off the day, both driver and navigator will finish with smiles on their faces whether they are lucky enough to take home a trophy or not.

HERO-ERA Competition Director Guy Woodcock stressed the importance of trying to bring young participants into Historic Rallying; “We work closely with Bicester Heritage, StarterMotor, and The Heritage Skills Academy to encourage younger people into the sport and industry. The HCVA articulate all our joint efforts to the authorities. The Rally for the Ages adds another dimension to our youth-oriented policy to go with our Bob Rutherford Historic Rally Scholarship for Young Rally Navigators in association with Motorsport UK. We need fresh young talent in the sport.”

HERO-ERA’s Arrive Drive fleet of classic rally cars are available to hire for the totally carbon neutral event, as all emissions on all HERO-ERA events are offset through the NET-HERO carbon offset programme.

The HEROICS café will be open for competitors to purchase lunch and refreshments throughout the day, and The Wriggly Monkey Brewery will be open after the event for celebrations and commiserations alike. Event details are on the HERO-ERA website with a section for expressions of interest whilst the full rally regulations and entry will be open on March 1st.

*Crews with a combined age of less than 70 years at the time of the rally will be eligible to a full refund of the entry fee provided they start the event.
