Motor Racing Legends will be fielding a spectacular selection of cars across all grids at this weekend’s Silverstone Classic event. Ten Listers, nine Aston Martins and eight Austin-Healeys will all take to the circuit on Saturday morning.

The Stirling Moss Trophy race at Silverstone will feature a fleet of ten Listers, including the Chevrolet V8 of Mark Gibbon and Rob Newall, but last year in a sea of British racing green it was the stunning red Ferrari 246S driven by Gregor Fisken who was first across the line in challenging conditions. Earlier this year at Donington Historic Festival, yet more treacherous conditions and Listers dominated the first three spots on the podium with Chris Ward in the JD Classsic’s Lister Jaguar Costin on the top step. Further down the grid the battles continue, there are no less than six Cooper Monacos entered for Silverstone’s flagship race, alongside Lotus, Rejo and Lolas all in the mix. Oliver Bryant raced superbly well to finish 4th overall at Donington in the family Lotus 15, with Dion Kremer just behind – but in a dry race everything could change and it could be anyone’s race!

In this weekend’s RAC Woodcote Trophy race, the grid is headed up with a brace of Jaguar D-Types followed by the glorious mix of Aston Martin, Cooper, Austin-Healey and Allard across the classes. Last year’s race was won by the Jaguar C-Type of John Young and Chris Ward, but at Donington it was the Jaguar D-Type of Gary Pearson who drove a perfect lights to flag victory and Gary will be back at Silverstone looking to try and repeat this performance. Further down the grid there is set to be around eight Healey 100s battling it out in the ‘Under 3.0 litre with Disc Brakes’ class, whilst the ‘Under 3.0 litre with Drum Brakes’ class is dominated by seven Aston Martins mostly DB2 & DB3s with the gorgeous Maserati 250S driven by Richard Wilson and Martin Stretton in the mix.

The Historic Touring Car Challenge features heavily as part of the event’s ‘Tin Top Sunday’ and is set to field another mega grid of 52 cars. No less than four BMW M3 E30s have joined Mark Smith and the Nick/Harry Whale duo in the battle for the lead. Behind them you’ll find a gaggle of 3.5 litre Rover SD1s and any number of quick Ford Capris. Look out for ‘The Beast’ – the AMC Javelin raced by David Howes to victory at Silverstone in 1975 and being raced for the first time since that day. Watch out too for Patrick Watts and his trio of Metro Turbos he has orchestrated for this weekend’s race.

Included in this grid are 20 competitors racing in the Tony Dron Trophy where cars are run to period specification, the two Chevrolet V8s you can expect to see at the sharp end of the grid, but it was the Rover SD1 of Bruce and Harvey who were first home at Donington, closely followed by Feakins & Vickers in their Ford Capri. Both are back out at Silverstone Classic, so the battle is set to continue. Further down the grid you’ll find not one, not two, but three Triumph Dolomites running to Group 1 specification ‘Under 2.5 litre’ alongside Donington class winner Glynn Allen and Darren Roberts in the Alfa Romeo GTV.

With the stunning array of original cars across all grids and high standard of driving skills Motor Racing Legends continue to set the standard for for providing highly competitive, proper gentleman style racing which is enormous fun, and as a result all three of these grids will feature as highlights of this weekend’s Silverstone Classic event.

The Stirling Moss Trophy race will be on track at 9.40 Saturday morning, with the RAC Woodcote Trophy at 12.00 noon, the Historic Touring Car Challenge race features in Sunday’s programme on track at 10.50am. The full timetable can be found here and tickets are still available and be purchased online until Thursday PM.
