Brisk bidding at Barons Autumn classic and collectors’ cars and automobilia sale at Sandown Park on October 25th saw 71% of lots finding new homes.

Almost all of the automobilia sold, including a 1930s Royal Enfield lady’s bicycle and a 1950s Rudge men’s bicycle, showing that Barons’ bidders are fans of all sorts of classic transportation, and warming the crowd up for the four-wheeled classics that followed.

The top-selling car on the day was the rare 1967 Porsche 912 SWB Targa, which exceeded top estimate to sell for £40,590.  It was followed by another fine example of 1960s power, the 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback, which also nudged over top estimate, achieving £33,000.

Three younger classics came next in the bidding stakes, all still very much on the ‘power’ theme: the 1991 Honda NSX (£28,600), 2000 Bentley Arnage Red Label (£23,100 – well over top estimate) and 1996 Aston Martin DB7 Volante (£22,000).

Barons’ Auction Manager Tim Gascoigne was in a buoyant mood:  “This was our first standard sale back at Sandown Park since June, and it was nice to be back on home ground. There were lots of people in attendance for both the viewing day and the sale, which made for a really good atmosphere. We also had a lot of internet, telephone, and commission bidders, including quite a few from overseas who were obviously looking to make the most of the weak Sterling. Lots of the cars sold under the hammer, and most of the submitted provisional bids have also ended up in sales, so it was very positive. We already have 15 nice cars entered into our December sale, which tends to be one of our most popular sales, so we’re expecting a strong end to the year.”

Barons’ final sale of 2016, the traditional Christmas Classic, is at Sandown Park on December 13th. For more information or to consign a car, please visit www.barons-auctions.com, email info@barons-auctions.com or call 08454 30 60 60.
