On Saturday 4 February AMOC Racing hosted an awards lunch in Newport Pagnell to present the awards for the 2016 season.
Lunch was preceded by a Drivers forum where it was explained that Duncan Wiltshire has taken over from Roger Bennington as Race Director for AMOC Racing, to be assisted by Lindsey Warren. Roger will continue to support AMOC Racing, acting as Deputy Race Director as required, and David Willey, Joe East and Nick Turner – all from MSVR – will continue to act as Race Secretaries and Clerk of the Course respectively.
Duncan Wiltshire then outlined the 2017 race programme and explained any revisions to the race formats: the AMOC 50s Sports Car race will revert to a 30-minute, single driver format; the Innes Ireland Trophy will return to a stand-alone format, with separate races to the 50s Sports Cars; and the Pre-War Team Challenge will be run as a staggered-start handicap for all races, and will re-introduce the three-car teams that were such a strong feature of the Team Challenge in years gone by.
The AMOC Intermarque Championship will run to a 45-minute, two-driver format and will continue to share the grid with the Aston Martin GT Challenge. However it is envisaged that for some meetings the two grids can be separated, thereby allowing the GT Challenge to run for a full 50-minutes where possible.
Duncan said of their plans for 2017 “Our role is about continuity, and working closely with the Aston Martin Owners Club which is vital to the success of the events. There will be no radical changes but it will be about quality, competitive racing, with quality cars, quality grids and keeping it fun and friendly.”
New Website
Finally, a new AMOC Racing website was unveiled – www.amocracing.com – where full details of the 2017 calendar and all the changes can be found. Registration and Entry Forms will be posted to the website shortly.
