Williams Medcalf host Vintage Bentley ‘Drive-Out’

William Medcalf Vintage Bentley, is celebrating a successful inaugural drive out, as hundreds of historic motoring enthusiasts descended on the West Sussex showroom and workshop.

Regarded as the home of the vintage Bentley, William Medcalf Vintage Bentley invited clients, readers of Octane magazine, associates and members of the media along to celebrate all things historic motoring on Saturday 7th January 2016.

Over 150 people attended the first drive out to enjoy a delicious breakfast from the RAC Club’s brand new Pit Stop catering truck, plus coffee and conversation while marvelling at one of the largest collections of vintage Bentleys in one place in the world, some 30 in all.

An impressive six vintage Bentleys were for sale in the showroom and included a Maythorn 8 Litre saloon (the second-to-last vintage Bentley ever to leave the works), a 1929 4½ Litre Bentley Le Mans Rep, a matching numbers Speed Six and a 3 Litre Speed Wayman, whose chassis wears its original Freestone and Webb gorgeous drophead coachwork, to name a few. Guests also arrived in a series of stunning vintage models.

After welcoming visitors and conducting several tours around the workshop, William Medcalf led a 30-strong drive out to Brooklands, the birthplace of motorsport and aviation.

As many as 14 W.O. Bentleys took to the front of the cavalcade for the drive, with 20 more cars of interest in convoy ready to park up at the Brooklands paddock and create a stunning historic motoring line-up.

The next drive out from William Medcalf Vintage Bentley is already planned for Saturday 8th April, when visitors will once again get the chance to sample the finest vintage Bentleys in the world and enjoy a spot of brunch with like-minded enthusiasts.

After a morning of exchanging pleasantries, William Medcalf will lead another drive out but this time to the Goodwood Motor Circuit, where drivers will have a chance to get up close and personal with iconic World War II Spitfires and enjoy a talk from a current Spitfire Ace.

William Medcalf said: “The first ever drive out from William Medcalf Vintage Bentley was a huge success. Hundreds of enthusiasts came through our doors and had a great time chewing the fat with other aficionados next to some beautiful cars. The drive out itself was amazing, with over 30 cars lining up at Brooklands to create a rather stunning photo.

“I would like to thank the RAC Club, Octane Magazine, the Benjafield Racing Club and all the attendees who made the first drive out so special. The next event on Saturday 8th April is all set to be just as memorable, as we head to Goodwood for another head-turning drive out.”
