Classic Car Auctions (CCA) welcomed hundreds of buyers to the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday 3rd of December for its final sale of the year and most successful ever.
With a diverse mix of traditional and modern classics on offer and one of its most intriguing catalogues yet, CCA successfully hammered away 82 per cent of the cars on offer for a total sales value of £1.4million.
Headlining the results was a 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. Offered on the open market for the first time since 1988, and having covered just 12,000 miles from the new, the car had significant pre-sale interest and sold after a long bidding war for £75,900 including premium, more than £15,000 over its lower estimate.
Another low mileage Cosworth powered Ford drew admiring glances from auction goers. The unregistered 1991 Ford Granada Scorpio, a pre-production model that had covered just 1,325 miles from new, sold for £11,880.
It wasn’t only Ford Cosworth models that were seeking a new home. A well looked after 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth 2.5-16, owned by one family its whole life, also proved popular, selling for £19,250.
Porsche fans were well catered for, and a UK supplied 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo was well received, selling for £59,950, while a matching-numbers, UK supplied 1976 Porsche 911 2.7 Lux project car sold for £30,250, double its lower estimate.
Those after a piece of Italian exotica fought hard over a 2014 Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV replica by arguably the best creators of Countach replicas, Mirage. Exceeding expectations, the car sold for an amazing £57,200, nearly £30,000 over its lower estimate, yet still great value at around 10 per cent of the cost of the real thing.
Becoming something of a specialist with the model, CCA offered and sold three Jaguar E-Types at the sale. A beautifully restored 1972 Jaguar E-Type SIII 5.3 V12 Roadster sold for £57,200, while a left-hand drive 1974 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster sold for £55,000. A barn-find, UK supplied, right-hand drive, manual 1973 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster, that had been laid up for 20 years, sold for £44,000.
CCA is now inviting entries into its first sale of 2017, a two-day mega sale at the Practical Classics’ Classic Car and Restoration Show on the 1st and 2nd April 2017. The sale is set to be one of the biggest classic car auctions ever held in the UK and is a fantastic opportunity for sellers.
