The search is on to find the very best of the best in the world of historic motoring, as nominations open for the sixth International Historic Motoring Awards (IHMA), in association with EFG Private Bank and Octane magazine.
Winning an IHMA, or making the shortlist, is a significant achievement, and an asset to any organization or individual in this sector. Consequently nominations are received from around the world each year and there is an illustrious international list of past winners – including the Mercedes-Benz Museum, Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Rennsport Reunion, Vintage Sports Car Club, Goodwood Revival, Audi Tradition, Porsche Historic Motorsports, Stanford University, National Motor Museum, Beaulieu and Sir Stirling Moss – to inspire potential candidates for 2016.
Reflecting the growth of the Awards, there is a new and hugely impressive venue for the gala dinner at which the results will be announced. The winners of the International Historic Motoring Awards 2016 will be revealed at the medieval Great Hall, the most beautiful part of Guildhall, London, on Thursday, 17th November. Situated in the heart of the City of London, Guildhall has been a pillar of London’s history since the twelfth century.
The Awards are judged by a hugely respected and experienced international panel which includes former World Sportscar Champion Jochen Mass, Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen (former CEO of Bentley and Bugatti and now head of the Volkswagen Group’s classic activities), car designer Peter Stevens, Dave Kinney, historic collector and journalist for Automobile and the New York Times, Le Mans icon Derek Bell and car collector Corrado Lopresto, the only person to have won the coveted Coppa d’Oro at Villa d’Este four times.
The 2016 Awards have 13 categories, showcasing the diversity of international historic motoring industry. Enthusiasts and those working in the industry are invited to make nominations online at historicmotoringawards.com.
The 2016 IHMA categoriesare: Car, Club, Industry Supporter, Lifetime Achievement, Motoring Event, Motorsport Event, Museum or Collection, Personal Achievement, Publication, Race Series, Rally or Tour, Restoration, and Specialist.
Nominations for the Car of the Year category close on September 16th, while those for all other categories close on October 1st.
