The sun returned for Monday’s famous ‘Mad Jack’ race for Pre-War Sports Cars. Where 27 pre-War cars lined up on the grid to rumble down the pit straight taking full advantage of the sunshine. Congratulations go to Fred Wakeman and Patrick Blakeney-Edwards who are becoming hard to beat in their Frazer Nash Supersports – beating the ever-charging Rudi Friedrich’s Alvis by just 10 seconds. But what a great drive from Lukas Halusa who led the race for the first half in his Type 35C Bugatti, and only losing third place to Sam Stretton’s Alta on the very last bend.
Commiserations to the Frazer Nash of Charles Gillett and Gillian Carr who were running 2nd before retiring with gearbox issues.
The next pre-War race is going to be at the Historic Grand Prix at Zandvoort in early September, entries are already building up to what is expected to be a great fun weekend.
