Aston Club Racing held their annual awards and get together in Newport Pagnell last week, where they launched their 2016 calendar and new racing format and management.

Stratton Motor Company’s Roger Bennington will be heading up the Aston Club Racing programme for 2016 backed by his own in-house team. Roger announced a variety of changes to the current racing format, highlights include a number of grids being combined and the introduction of a new trophy called the Multi Marque Cup which will be run alongside the Aston Martin GT Challenge allowing other modern marque GT4 cars to join the grid.

The Innes Ireland Cup and Jack Fairman Cup (50’s Sports Car) will also be combined as one grid with rolling starts. The first three ACR events will this year be joining the British GT rounds at Brands, Oulton Park and Silverstone. The remaining three are standalone Aston Club Racing days where Equipe GTS and the Pre-War Team Challenge will hopefully be back on the programme.  Also new for 2016 all grids are to be headed up by a grid champion who will act as a spokesperson to feedback any suggested changes to rules and regs. Over a 100 competitors attended the lunch and prize giving ceremony and the changes were initially well received.

Calendar:

16 April – Brands Hatch Brit GT round only for AMOC Intermarque & Aston Martin GT Challenge

28 May – Oulton Park – Brit GT round only for AMOC Intermarque, Aston Martin GT Challenge &  50’s Sports Cars & Innes Ireland Cup.

The club mantra is to offer club racers an environment where owners of prestigious classic cars can race in a relaxed, friendly environment with other like minded enthusiasts, keeping entry fees low and drivers are put first.
