The 8th Bo-‘ness Revival Hill Climb meeting is gathering in momentum, scheduled for 5-6 September 2015 – entries include the Fraser Ewart and his monstrous smoking 6.7 litre turbocharged 1952 Bentley. However there is still time to enter visit www.bonesshillclimb.org.uk for details.

The Bo’ness Hill Climb was first run in 1934 and the Kinneil Estate venue was steadily developed over the next few years. An International Licence was awarded to the track in 1946. It is the oldest permanent motorsport venue in Scotland and one of the oldest in mainland UK – only Brooklands and Shelsley Walsh have a longer history than Bo’ness. The inaugural round of the very first British Hill Climb Championship was held at Bo’ness in May 1947 and rounds of the Championship continued to be held there until 1966.

Many well-known names in British motorsport have appeared at Bo’ness and they include Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Peter Collins, George Abecassis, Les Leston, Reg Parnell, Ron Flockhart plus, of course, all the great hill climb and sprint specialists such as Ken Wharton, Dennis Poore, Sydney Allard, Tony Marsh, David Good, David and Peter Boshier-Jones and many, many more.

The venue closed to motorsport in 1967. The land at the top of the Hill was sold for a housing development but the lower section of the track remained, including all the best corners and spectator viewing points.

A group of enthusiasts formed Bo’ness Hill Climb Revival Ltd in 2007 with the express intention of bringing motorsport back to the historic old venue at Bo’ness. This was achieved in 2008 when the first Revival meeting was held and annual events have been held since then which have continued to grow in size and popularity, attracting competitors and spectators from all over the UK.
