Some of the ‘not-to-be-missed’ features at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, held at Birmingham’s NEC from 10 – 12 November – include the following:

Porsche GB will celebrate 40 years of the 928 at this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, held 10-12 November at Birmingham’s NEC. To mark the anniversary, four UK Porsche Classic Partner Centres have entered a 1978 928 in the 2017 season of the HSCC 70s Road Sport Championship, with racing legend Richard Attwood at the wheel.

The undoubted main attraction of the VPOC stand in Hall 4 will be the famous one-off Vanden Plas ‘Landcrab’ prototype. In 1971 a Wolseley 18/85 was transformed into an elegant four-window saloon but the project was sadly cancelled by the management of British Leyland. Fortunately, it escaped being scrapped, the fate of so many project cars, and it went on to serve as a factory runabout before living in semi-retirement for many years. The Vanden Plas 1800 now resides in Scotland and will be starring at Birmingham’s NEC from 10-12 November.

Salvage Hunters’ Drew Pritchard will lead a line-up of TV stars from Quest to join Wheeler Dealers Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead on the Discovery Live Stage.
Also bringing a new show to Quest and making a welcome NEC Classic return is Jimmy De Ville, star of TV’s Engine Addicts and car customiser. With a nod to the name of the legendary British engineering company, comes the brand, new series Goblin Works Garage, launching exclusive to Quest in early 2018.

Wheeler Dealers stars will show two cars that are 100 years apart in age and technology at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery. TV stalwart Mike Brewer will be bringing his recently recommissioned 1917 Ford Model T to the show, while his new co-host and mechanic Ant Anstead will showcase his 2017 electric powered GT sports car.
Mike first encountered the Ford Model T in Oregon where he was attracted by the fact that it was a ‘two-owner running car with an original patina’. “The moment I saw it, I smiled. It’s just that type of car. But its too beautiful to be an ornament. It needs to be on the road where it belongs.”
His aim was to have it made more driver friendly for daily use with new tyres, a battery conversion, and re-spoked wheels. The T has been worked on by Rally Preparation Services of Witney with the expert assistance of Ohio’s Snyders Antique Auto Parts, the world’s leading Ford Model A and T parts supplier.

While Mike’s car is ready for at least another century’s worth of steady and sedate motoring, car designer Ant favours slightly more in the way of performance in a new coupe that captures the ethos of Graham Hill moustaches and smart blazers.
Both cars can be seen on the Discovery Live Stage, with both cars driven onto the stage along with cars from both of the hosts’ TV careers. Mike and Ant will also welcome special guests including fellow petrolheads Drew Pritchard, Jimmy De Ville and car designer Frank Stephenson.
Finally – An exclusive UK premiere of the new series of Wheeler Dealers, featuring show stalwart Mike Brewer with his new lead mechanic and co-host Ant Anstead, will be held at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, on Saturday 11th November.
