On the road to Rome with the Mille Miglia

Our man on the ground Dave Brassington followed competitors on the second stage of the 1000 Miglia 2018 from Cervia-Milano Marittima to Rome yesterday and here are some of the action shots from along the route.

First cars were expected in to Rome around 20.15pm  and afterwards cars took part in a parade in Via Veneto.

Up to now, the ranking sees a tight battle for taking the lead among some of the favorite crews: the champions of 2016 and 2017 edition, Andrea Vesco and Andrea Guerini from Brescia driving the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato of 1929; Giovanni Moceri and Daniele Bonetti with the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS of 1928; Andrea Belometti and Doriano Vavassori with the Lancia Lambda VIII Casaro series of 1929; Gianmario Fontanella and Anna Maria Covelli with the Lancia Lambda VII Casaro series of 1927; Juan Tonconogy and Barbara Ruffini with the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 GS “Testa Fissa” of 1933.

The ranking of the female crews, participants in the Ladies’ Cup, sees among the favorites Silvia Marini and Francesca Ruggeri driving the Aston Martin 2 Liter Speed Model of 1936 and Franca Boni with Monica Barziza in a Lancia Aprilia 1500 of 1949.

At 6:30 this morning the third stage will start their journey: from Rome to Parma.
