The opening round of the 2018 Formula Vintage Championship will take place on the national Circuit of Silverstone over the weekend of 21 and 22 April.  The action packed two day event builds upon the history of the traditional Sprint Start Race Meeting and VSCC racing at Silverstone which dates back to April 1949.

Almost seventy years later, the April Race Meeting at Silverstone remains one of the VSCC’s most popular events with spectators and competitors alike.

A total of nineteen grids for Pre-war and Historic Sports and Racing cars will visit the Northamptonshire circuit guaranteeing excitement and close racing action.

The VSCC are not only running a race meeting, but also offering a variety of off-track entertainment including a trade village, Pre-war Auto Solo, British Autotest Championship as well as becoming one of the FHBVC’s “Drive It Day” venues for the first time. 

Practice commences at 9am on both days with racing starting after lunch. The weekend provides the very finest of historic motor racing, with a mix of Historic Grand Prix Cars, 1950s Sports Racing Cars, Pre and Post-war Frazer Nashs and the AR Morgan Challenge adding to the stable of prestigious VSCC trophies up for grabs. 

In addition to all of the competition cars we are also delighted to welcome a number of motor racing legends to Silverstone this weekend, with no other than Martin Stretton, Historic Formula One Champion (1995 & 2000) taking to the track as part of the Freddie Giles Memorial Race and motorsport engineering superstar Tony Southgate, the only Chief Engineer to have won the triple crown of motorsport (Le Mans 24hr, Indianapolis 500 and Monaco Grand Prix) joining us to present the podium awards for the prestigious Patrick Lindsey Memorial Race.
